What Does it Mean When People are Losing Hair?
First, everyone loses about 100 hairs a day. This is normal. Most of these strands of hair end up in combs, hairbrushes or in the shower. If you’re noticing more hairs left behind or you can see your hair thinning and more of your scalp showing, you are losing more hair than is normal.
Millions of people start losing hair each year, at a much earlier age than normal. Both men and women can start losing their hair in their early 30′s. It’s definitely not something you want to look forward to but it’s not the end of the world. Most men and women start losing hair because their parents or grandparents lost their hair early. This hereditary reason is treatable in most cases without needing a prescription. Over-the-counter products containing minoxidil work for most men and women.
Other reasons for losing hair could be more serious. For women, hair loss could result from a hormonal imbalance or pregnancy. A crash diet or an extreme lack of nutrition will make your hair fall out. Illness and certain medications also cause temporary hair loss. Extreme stress will also cause people to lose their hair.
A person should never start ay type of treatment because they are losing their hair unless they can rule out all the reasons for the hair loss except heredity.
